Protect your own stones. Rules If there is no handicap, some rule sets specify a komi, which is compensation black gives to white for getting the first move. Komi varies from 0 to 6.5 points depending on the rules you are playing by. Black makes the first move. If there is a handicap, the handicap stone placement counts as black's first move. Placing stones so as to occupy ALL the liberties of an opposing unit results in NO liberties for that unit and the stones in that unit are captured. All stones of a captured unit are removed from the board. The game ends when both players pass, and whichever side has more net points, wins the game.
